Architect
Qualifications
Individuals licensed to practice architecture in a U.S. State or Territory are eligible to become AIA Members.

Dues
The AIA is a three-tiered organization, which means your membership must be maintained at each level. However, only one check, for the total amount, should be made payable to the American Institute of Architects and submitted with your membership application.
Professional Affiliate
Qualifications
Individuals who are not otherwise eligible for membership in The American Institute of Architects. Professional Affiliate membership is a state membership and is open to constructors, construction managers, manufacturing representatives, engineers, interior designers, planners, landscape architects, artists and those in government, education, journalism, manufacturing, industry and other fields allied to architecture.

Dues

Associate
Qualifications (must qualify for one of the following)
- Recent graduate with a degree in architecture
- Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working toward their license
- Anyone currently working under the supervision of an architect
- Anyone who holds a degree in architecture
- Faculty member who is not licensed in a university program in architecture

Qualifications
An AIA member for 15 successive years and one of the following:
- At least 65 years of age
- Is incapacitated and unable to work in the architecture profession
